Ribe Viking Center

35-40 minutes drive from the house by car (Google Maps)

At Ribe Viking Center, you can experience everything from the large international Viking market in April/May to Viking warriors and Vikings on Icelandic horses. Every day, there are also try-it-yourself activities.

Travel back 1300 years to the time when the Vikings ruled in Ripa (Ribe). At Ribe Viking Center, the history of the ancient Danes comes alive, and you become a part of it!

Ribe Viking Center is a historical experience center with authentic reconstructions of the very oldest Ripa. Here you can meet the blacksmith, the king’s mint master, the seeress, the housewife, the thrall, the warrior, the falconer, the woodsmith, the large farmer, and all the farm animals.

Visit the craftsmen and the seeress at the Market Square in the year 710 and take a look at Ripa Harbor in the year 750, where the traders’ boats are moored. In Ripa Town in the year 825, you are welcome to visit the Vikings’ houses, such as the impressive Thing House, where the walls are decorated with a 20-meter-long fresco. On the opposite side of the river stands Ansgar Church in the year 860, a beautifully decorated wooden church. At Storgården in the year 980, you can experience Viking Age agriculture, meet the animals, and visit the grand longhouse of the large farmer, where the housewife prepares food. The warriors and archers are stationed at Ringvold in the year 980, where you can also practice your skills.

At Ribe Viking Center, there are performances and activities every single day, such as archery, warrior training, and learning Viking games. Let your imagination run wild, play along, and try it out yourself!
